About Us

Boundaries & Beyond is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing inclusive and accessible sex and relationship education for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Originally developed by Aspire Workforce, LLC, the program was created to meet a critical gap in education and support for this underserved community. Our mission is to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills to navigate healthy relationships, personal boundaries, and sexual safety. Through trauma-informed, affirming, and community-informed curricula, we prioritize accessibility, inclusivity, and respect for each person’s unique identity to foster growth, confidence, and autonomy in a supportive learning environment.

Program Director

Heather Steele is a longtime advocate and educator with a focus on trauma-informed care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DDs). Her experience supporting survivors of sexual and domestic violence led her to facilitate sex education courses tailored to adults with I/DDs, work that inspired her to help develop a more inclusive, sex-positive curriculum.

Heather holds a Master of Science in Public Health and a Bachelor's in Psychology. Her public health training and commitment to equity have shaped her work with unhoused youth, residents of public housing, people with disabilities, and the LGBTQIA2S+ community.

We believe all people have the right to empathetic,

inclusive, accessible, equitable, and comprehensive sexual health resources and feel especially compelled to advocate for those who often feel powerless when it comes to decisions made around their bodies and on their behalf, so it's incredibly important to us that we stand with the coalition in supporting this type of advocacy!
